PHPBenelux

Thursday march 4th 2010 (starting 18:30), the first regular PHPBenelux meeting in The Netherlands will be organized in the Microsoft offices at Schiphol as we announced earlier. We are happy to announce that there will be two premier speakers at this meeting.

The first speaker is Jan-Willem Eshuis. Jan-Willem is Lead developer and architect in the New Media department of dutch public broadcaster NOS. In this role, he is responsible for the technical development of all new media applications of the NOS. Within these applications, the "in house" developed Service Oriented Architecture has an important role.

The second speaker is Josh Holmes. Josh Holmes is a passionate soul who gets his kicks solving problems with deep fried awesomeness. He is currently employed by Microsoft as a UX Architect Evangelist with Microsoft focused on building and educating the dev partners with a UX or Rich Internet Application offering in Central Region. Prior to joining Microsoft in October 2006, Josh was a consultant working with a variety of clients ranging from large Fortune 500 firms to smaller sized companies. Josh is a frequent speaker and lead panelist at national and international software development conferences focusing on emerging technologies, software design and development with an emphasis on mobility and RIA (Rich Internet Applications). Community focused, Josh has founded and/or run many technology organizations from the Great Lakes Area .NET Users Group to the Ann Arbor Computer Society and was on the forming committee for CodeMash. The next monthly PHPBenelux meeting will be tuesday 24 november at the office of Atos Origin in Rijswijk (near The Hague). Bert Boerland (Drupal boardmember) will talk about performance issues with Drupal (and how to solve them). Arnoud Engelfriet (internet lawyer) will talk about about the GPL license. Op vrijdag 28 augustus 2009 organiseren de twee in Nederland actieve PHP gebruikersgroepen phpFreakz en phpBenelux de eerste Nederlandse PHP BBQ. Voor alle aanwezigen zal er een combinatie zijn van presentaties, netwerken, lekker eten en drinken en een hoop gezelligheid. Kosten voor deze BBQ zijn 15 euro per persoon.»»»

PHP is een veelgebruikte general-purpose scripting taal die in het bijzonder geschikt is voor Web development, en kan worden ingebed in HTML. Indien je nog geen ervaring hebt met PHP en een idee zou willen krijgen wat PHP kan, kijk dan in de introductie tutorial (engelstalig). Neem daarna een kijkje in de de online handleiding, en de diverse voorbeeld sites en overige informatie in de links sectie. »»»

De PHPBenelux heeft als doel om PHP ontwikkelaars bij elkaar te brengen, zodat zij elkaar kunnen helpen waar nodig. Daarnaast geeft, waar mogelijk, de phpGG meer naamsbekendheid aan PHP, en de filosofie achter PHP en vrije software, door middel van aanwezigheid op PHP gerelateerde evenementen, eigen bijeenkomsten met lezingen door sprekers uit de community, contacten met het bedrijfsleven, een forum en een nieuwsbrief. PHPBenelux is er voor de mensen binnen Nederland en België die, al dan niet professioneel, van PHP gebruik maken, of willen gaan maken. De PHPBenelux is ingeschreven bij de Kamer van Koophandel als een vereniging met als doelstelling de belangen van PHP ontwikkelaars te behartigen, en wel in de meest ruime zin van het woord.
